Engineering • Remote (Africa) / Hybrid Accra • Full-time
Small, senior teams with clear ownership. You'll know who decides what, and your scope is honest.
You'll join the Product Experience guild — a cross-cutting team of frontend engineers and designers who own the look, feel and accessibility bar across every Spalce product. The guild is currently five engineers and three designers, and our work shows up on dashboards used by analysts at three central banks and a dozen tier-one fintechs.
We care deeply about craft. Code review is generous and detailed, design critiques are weekly, and we ship Storybook updates almost daily. If you've ever wanted teammates who genuinely care that a button feels right, this is the team.
What you'll do
We hire for outcomes, not tasks. Here's what success looks like in your first year.
Ship the next major version of our internal design system, used by 30+ engineers across four product lines
Lead the frontend rewrite of our customer admin console — moving it from a 2019 SPA to Next.js App Router with measurable LCP gains
Drive accessibility from WCAG AA towards AAA on flagship surfaces, including a full audit and remediation plan
Partner with the design lead to define and codify a motion language for product UI
Own performance budgets, instrumented in CI, that prevent regressions on slow Android devices
Coach two mid-level engineers on React internals, TypeScript and design-engineering collaboration
What you'll bring
If you don't tick every box, please apply anyway. We hire for trajectory, not a literal checklist.
Compensation
Transparent, top-of-market, and adjusted thoughtfully for region of residence.
$80K – $120K
$80K – $120K base salary, calibrated to seniority and region of residence
Stock options
0.05% – 0.12% in stock options, four-year vesting with a one-year cliff
Performance
Annual performance bonus targeting 10% of base, paid in cash
Interview process
Predictable, respectful, and fast. We aim for a clear decision within three weeks of your first conversation.
Our promises
A casual conversation about your background, motivation, and how we work. No technical questions — just signal-checking on both sides.
A senior frontend engineer will dig into your CV, then explore a production UI you've shipped — what was hard, what shipped, what regressed. Expect React, TypeScript and accessibility questions.
Build a small but realistic Next.js feature against a provided design. We pay for your time and review code, tests and accessibility together in the next round.
Three sessions: a design + code review of your take-home, a UI architecture interview, and a collaboration conversation with a designer and an engineer you'd work with.
We speak with two references, then send a written offer including comp, equity context and onboarding plan.
