Small, senior teams with clear ownership. You'll know who decides what, and your scope is honest.
You'll join the Design guild — currently four product designers and a brand designer, embedded across product squads and held together by a strong weekly critique. Our work spans dashboards for analysts, mobile apps for merchants, and identity flows for first-time smartphone users.
We practise systems-first design — components before screens, principles before pixels — and we run real research with users, in the field, at least once per quarter.
What you'll do
We hire for outcomes, not tasks. Here's what success looks like in your first year.
Own the design of our new merchant onboarding flow end-to-end, from research to ship
Lead two field research trips — one in Lagos, one in Nairobi — and turn the findings into prioritised design backlogs
Contribute to and evolve our Figma design system, focusing on data-dense table and form patterns
Partner with a frontend engineer on a prototype-first workflow, so design decisions are validated in code, not just Figma
Run quarterly design reviews with executives, presenting work and the reasoning behind it
Coach a junior designer on craft, research and stakeholder communication
What you'll bring
If you don't tick every box, please apply anyway. We hire for trajectory, not a literal checklist.
Compensation
Transparent, top-of-market, and adjusted thoughtfully for region of residence.
$70K – $105K
$70K – $105K base salary, calibrated to seniority and region of residence
Stock options
0.04% – 0.10% in stock options, four-year vesting with a one-year cliff
Performance
Annual performance bonus targeting 10% of base
Interview process
Predictable, respectful, and fast. We aim for a clear decision within three weeks of your first conversation.
Our promises
A friendly conversation about your story, design philosophy and what you want from your next role.
Walk us through one project end-to-end — the brief, the messy middle, what shipped, what you'd do differently. Bring the artefacts, not just the case study.
A self-contained product design challenge mirroring a real Spalce problem. We pay for your time and judge thinking, not pixels.
Three sessions: design exercise review, a cross-functional collaboration interview with a PM and engineer, and a values conversation.
References and a written offer with full comp and onboarding plan.
