Quick answers to what teams ask before partnering with us on devops & sre.
Yes. We start by interviewing product and customer-success owners to define the user journeys that actually matter, then translate those into SLIs (latency, availability, correctness) and SLOs that the business will defend. Error budgets become the lever for release governance: when the budget is spent, feature work pauses and reliability work takes priority. Without this loop, SRE is just expensive ops.
We instrument deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate and mean time to restore directly from your CI/CD and incident tooling - typically GitHub Actions or GitLab CI plus PagerDuty or Opsgenie. We don't treat DORA as a vanity scoreboard; we use them to find the specific bottleneck (review delay, flaky tests, slow rollback) and fix it. Elite metrics aren't the goal - shipping safely is.
OpenTelemetry as the instrumentation standard, with Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, Loki or Elasticsearch for logs, and Tempo or Jaeger for traces. For clients with budget for managed tooling we deploy Datadog, Honeycomb or New Relic. We standardize on OTel so swapping backends later doesn't require re-instrumenting every service - vendor portability is a first-class concern.
Yes, we can run follow-the-sun on-call from our Accra, Lagos and Nairobi pods with documented escalation to your internal team for business decisions. We require runbooks, monitored SLIs and a no-blame postmortem culture as preconditions. We won't sign an on-call contract for a system without observability - we'd be guessing in the dark, and your users would pay for it.
For a single repo with standard tests, a production-ready pipeline (build, test, security scan, container build, staging deploy, manual approval to prod, rollback) takes 2 to 4 weeks. Migrating a 50-service estate to a standardized template typically takes 3 to 6 months because the constraint is rarely the pipeline itself but flaky tests, undocumented manual steps and database migrations that aren't backwards-compatible.
If you have one application, ten engineers and a single-region monolith with no nines-of-uptime contract, dedicated SRE is overkill. You need solid CI/CD, good monitoring, and a senior engineer who owns reliability part-time. SRE pays back when you have many services, real production traffic measured in millions of requests per day, or contractual SLAs with penalty clauses. We'll tell you when you're not there yet.
Often no. ECS, Cloud Run, App Runner and Fly.io ship most workloads with a fraction of the operational tax. Kubernetes earns its keep when you have many teams deploying many services, need fine-grained scheduling and resource control, or have on-prem and multi-cloud constraints. We have migrated clients off Kubernetes to simpler runtimes and seen incident volume drop - the right tool is the simplest one that fits.
Optimize your pipeline. Let's build something extraordinary together.
